Life and Works-
Ivor
Armstrong Richards Was born in
1893 and was educated at Clifton and Magdalene
College, Cambridge, where in 1912 he was also appointed a professor of
English Literature. Later he became one of the Pioneers of New
Criticism.
His works

Co-authored with C. K. Ogden and James Wood.
2. The Principles of Literary Criticism (London, 1924; New York, 1925)
3. Science and Poetry (London, 1926).
4. Practical Criticism (1929).
5. Coleridge on Imagination (London,

6. Speculative Instruments (London,
1955).
7. 'So Much Nearer: Essays toward a World
English (New York, 1960,
1968), includes the important essay, "The
Future of Poetry."
